Student - Upload JPG images to Canvas

Purpose

This guide outlines the process for submitting image-based assignments in Canvas when direct image uploads are not supported. By converting images into a Microsoft Word document, students can ensure their work is properly formatted and successfully submitted through Canvas.

Process

1. Download the image you need for your assignment. By default, images are saved to the Downloads folder in File Explorer.

2. Open Microsoft Word.

  • One option is to log into your CWI email, select the Apps menu, and choose Word.

3. Create a new blank document.

  • In the new document, go to the Insert tab → PicturesThis Device.

  • Select the image(s) you want to include.

4. Save the Word document.

  • Click the File tab → Save As (Create a Copy)Download a Copy.

  • The file will be saved to your Downloads folder.

5. Upload the document to Canvas.

  • Go to your assignment in Canvas.

  • Select Upload a File and choose the Word document you saved.
