Everyone - Changing your CWI Password on a CWI Computer

Note:
To update your password on a CWI computer you will need to know your current password. If you don't, you will need to contact the Help Desk at 208-562-3444.

Also, when you update your CWI password, you will need to update any computing device that may be using your old password to sign in to CWI apps. These devices include, laptops, tablets and mobile phones. With these devices, you would have at some point used them to access your CWI email accounts and or the CWI WiFi. Any apps on your devices that you use to access CWI email and WiFi (and possibly other accesses) that store your passwords must be updated with your newest password or they will continue to attempt to sign in with the old, incorrect password and will inevitably lock your account.

Note:
Five (5) failed log in attempts result in your account being locked out for 30 minutes.

Steps-to-Take:
1. From any campus computer logon as you normally would. Once you have logged in and can see the desktop press CTRL+ALT+DELETE at the same time.
2. This will bring up several options, one of which is a “Change a password” option.
3. Click on the “Change a password” option.
4. Enter your current password in the ‘Old Password’ box and then what you would like to change your password to in the ‘New Password’ and ‘Confirm New Password’ boxes.
5. Click the Submit (right arrow) when you are finished. The system will take you back to your desktop if you have successfully updated your password.

Additional Notes:
- Please be aware that when you change your password, you will need to update that password on all of your computing devices. Five (5) unsuccessful log in attempts will result and your account be locked out for 30 minutes. Many times, this is caused by a smart phone app trying to log in and update information but is still using your old password.
- Faculty and Employee account passwords expire every 90 days. Student passwords do not expire but it is good practice to update your password.
