Purpose

The purpose of this guide is to provide instructions on how to delete an email in Outlook using either the web version (OWA) or the desktop application.

 

Process

OWA

  • Open Outlook through the web (OWA)
  • Highlight or select the email you want to delete.
  • Click the Delete icon (trash can) or press the Delete key on your keyboard.

Outlook Desktop Application

  • Open Outlook through the desktop application.

  • Highlight or select the email you want to delete.
  • Click the Delete icon (trash can) or press the Delete key on your keyboard.

Notes:

  • When you delete an email, it is moved to your Deleted Items folder.
  • Emails removed from the Deleted Items folder are permanently deleted.

  • In some cases, a permanently deleted email may still be recoverable from the server.
