Purpose
This article explains the importance of updating stored passwords on all devices and applications after changing your CWI password. Failure to do so may result in repeated failed login attempts, ultimately locking your account. It provides guidance for updating saved credentials in email apps, Wi-Fi networks, and web browsers to prevent account lockouts and ensure continued access to CWI systems such as email, MyCWI, Blackboard, and Wi-Fi.
NOTE** When you update your CWI password, you will also need to update any computing device that may be using your old password to sign in to CWI apps. These devices include, laptops, tablets and mobile phones. With these devices, you would have some point used them to access your CWI email accounts and or the CWI WIFI. Any apps on your devices that you use to access CWI email and WIFI (and possibly other accesses) that store your passwords must be updated with your newest password or they will continue to attempt to sign in with the old, incorrect password and will inevitably lock your account.
Process
** 5 failed login attempts result in your account being locked out for 30 minutes.

Updating Saved Passwords on Apps and Devices
One of the most common causes of CWI account lockouts is when apps or devices attempt to sign in using an outdated password. To prevent this, ensure that any device or application storing your old CWI password is updated with your new credentials.
This includes, but is not limited to, apps or systems used to access:
-
CWI Email
-
Blackboard
-
MyCWI
-
CWI Wi-Fi
After forgetting the network, reconnect by selecting it from the list and entering your updated CWI credentials. Be sure to check and update both areas after changing your password.
Clearing a Saved Wi-Fi Network
If your device continues to use an outdated Wi-Fi password, it may repeatedly attempt to connect and cause account lockouts. Follow the steps below to forget and reconnect to the CWI Wi-Fi network:
Android: Tap and hold the CWI Wi-Fi network name. When the options menu appears, select Forget Network.
iOS (iPhone/iPad):
- Open Settings, then go to Wi-Fi.
- Locate the CWI Wi-Fi network.
- Tap the information icon (ⓘ or blue arrow).
- Tap Forget This Network, then confirm.
In most cases, updating is as simple as logging out and signing back in using your new password.
