This article provides information on how to stay updated with College of Western Idaho (CWI) events, when they happen, and how to connect with others through these opportunities.

 

Types of Events at CWI 

CWI hosts a wide range of events throughout the year: 

  • Academic Events – orientations, workshops, guest lectures. 

  • Campus Life Events – student activities, clubs, cultural celebrations. 

  • Community Events – career fairs, volunteer opportunities, and community partnerships. 

How to Find CWI Events 

A. Event Calendar 

Access the CWI Events Calendar. https://cwi.edu/campus-life/events#annual-events 

From here, you will see two main options: 

  • Annual Events 

  • Calendar

1. Annual Events 

Annual events are designed to support student success, showcase achievements, and provide networking opportunities. Examples include:

2.  Event Calendar 

The CWI Event Calendar provides a month-by-month schedule of upcoming events. 

Features include: 

  • View by Day, Month, or List formats. 

  • Add to My Calendar option for syncing with personal calendars. 

  • Email Reminder option for notifications.

3. Campus Life Page 

The Campus Life section of the CWI website is the main hub for student engagement and involvement. It is where you can find opportunities to connect with peers, explore leadership roles, and participate in activities outside of the classroom.

4. Academic Calendar 

For important academic dates such as semester start/end dates, class sessions, and holidays, visit the Academic Calendar.

You can filter by:  

  • Semester (Fall, Spring, Summer)  
  • Year-at-a-Glance overview  
  • Session lengths (16-week, 8-week, 5-week, 4-week)

B. How to Participate 

  1. Browse upcoming events on the CWI Event Calendar. 

  1. Click an event to see details such as time, location, and registration info. 

  1. Register online if required. 

  1. Attend and bring a CWI student ID or employee badge if needed. 

 

C. Networking Opportunities 

  1. Clubs & Student Government: Connect with peers who share your interests. 

  1. Career Fairs & Workshops: Meet local employers, recruiters, and faculty. 

  1. Community Service Events: Volunteer while building friendships and professional connections. 

 

D. Support

Student Support: 

You can search for support resources in the cards section of your dashboard, where you’ll find options such as Counseling, Student Care, and more. If you’d like to keep a resource handy, click the small grey button on the card to save it to your dashboard.

If you search for Academic Resources in your dashboard, you will find tools and services related to your education such as Canvas, the Library, Tutoring, and Work-Based Learning. These resources provide full access to the academic side of campus. 

For example, the Work-Based Learning Center allows you to: 

  • Book appointments with staff for guidance and support. 

  • Explore internships and job shadowing opportunities. 

  • Get help with resumes, cover letters, and interview preparation.
