Everyone - Adjusting uBlock Settings on Blocked Web sites

Summary

To help users temporarily lower or disable uBlock Origin Lite blocking on trusted websites that fail to load or display correctly.

Body

Overview

The uBlock Origin Lite browser extension helps protect you from ads, pop-ups, and unsafe web content. Sometimes, this protection can block parts of legitimate websites, such as embedded videos, forms, or course tools.

By default, uBlock Origin Lite uses the Optimal protection setting. This works well for most websites but may cause certain trusted pages to appear incomplete or fail to load correctly.

If that happens, you can adjust the settings for that specific site.

Process to Adjust or Disable Blocking

  1. Open the website that isn’t displaying correctly.

  2. Click the uBlock Origin Lite shield icon in your browser’s toolbar.

  3. A small panel will open showing the site’s current protection level (usually set to Optimal).

Option 1: Lower Protection

If you want to keep some filtering but allow more site content:

  • Click the Protection Level dropdown.

  • Change the setting from Optimal to Medium or Low.

  • Reload the page to see if the site now displays correctly.

Option 2: Disable Blocking for the Site

If the page still doesn’t load or looks incomplete:

  • In the same panel, click the toggle or disable option to turn off blocking for this site.

  • The icon will show the change, and the page will refresh automatically or after you reload it manually.

Important Notes

  • Only adjust settings for trusted websites, such as CWI portals, course pages, or other known safe services.

  • You don’t need to change the setting back afterward. uBlock Origin Lite remembers your preference for that specific site and continues applying protection normally everywhere else.

  • Avoid disabling filtering on unfamiliar or suspicious websites.
