Purpose
This document provides step-by-step instructions for downloading, installing, and activating Microsoft Office on a Windows 11 device using your College of Western Idaho (CWI) account.
Process
1. Open a web browser on your Windows device (Chrome or Firefox recommended) and navigate to: https://portal.office.com/OLS/MySoftware.aspx and sign in with your CWI account credentials.
2. On the My Account page, click to the Apps & Devices page, then click Install Office to download the latest installer package.

3. Once the download is complete, open File Explorer, go to Downloads, and double-click the Microsoft Office installer package (file name may vary).

4. This page will pop up wait for it to finish and then continue.

5. when it is done downloading, click Close to finish.

5. Launch one of the installed Microsoft Office desktop apps, such as Microsoft Word.
6. In the Your Privacy Matters, click Close to continue.

7. Click the Sign in button to continue

8. Sign in with your CWI credentials to activate Office.

Use your full CWI email address and password.

You only need to do this for the first app you open.

An Internet connection is required for activation.


9. After you enter in the correct credentials you will get a Code that you will need to enter for your MFA in order to continue.

10. When you successfully enter in the correct Code you received you get to this page. Choose yes or no based on your preference.
* Please note if you choose [No, this app only], you will have to sign in again if you want to use a different app from Microsoft's Office 365.

11. On the next page, the one that says [Allow your organization to manage your device], PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHOOSE NO!

* Please Note if you accidentally click yes you will need to follow these steps to fix it. Then Repeat from Steps 5 to 12

- Accounts
- Access work or school
- Click your @cwi.edu account
- Select Disconnect
- Restart
12. If you successfully click No, you will be brought to your Home page, where you can now start using Word.
