For Work Study Students

The student will continue to use their current student credentials for everything, including logging in to computers at their new Work Study assignment location and accessing time entry through my.cwi.edu.

If a Work Study student needs a cwi.edu (staff and faculty) email address:

These applications will be set up by the local TSS by request, through a Help Desk Ticket.

The new Work Study account (wsfirstnamelastname@cwi.edu ) cannot be used to log directly in to a computer and the password will have to be changed via https://logonhelp.cwi.edu before it can be used and every 90 days thereafter.

The TSS will provide additional instructions for the cwi.edu email and Skype process.

For Part-Time Student Employees (not transferring from Work Study status*)

When a student becomes a part-time employee of CWI (non-Work Study):

First: The my.cwi.edu student account is changed to a 100 account: firstnamelastname100@my.cwi.edu

Second: All permissions will be transferred to the newly created employee account: firstnamelastname@cwi.edu

They will log in to campus computers, Blackboard, MyCWI with their new firstnamelastname employee account and their new password.

Any email from Blackboard or internal from CWI will automatically be routed to their new employee account email address (firstnamelastname@cwi.edu).

External emails to the old my.cwi.edu email address will not be re-routed.

If there is a need to access the old student email account that can be accomplished by going to: http://mail.my.cwi.edu using their new student email account (firstnamelastname100@my.cwi.edu ) and their original student password before they were converted to an employee.

Many students choose to forward their student email to their cwi.edu email account so they do not miss any communication from external sources. Review FAQ 82 for instructions on how to set up forwarding.

Before Employment Ends:

Save email from the employee email account (cwi.edu) that is not in the old student email (my.cwi.edu) account BEFORE employment has officially ended.

After Employment Ends:

After employment has terminated, the student’s username will return to the pre-employment username and email address, without the 100, and access to employee (cwi.edu) email will not be available.

*Transferring from Work Study status:

Many departments use Work Study students until their funds are exhausted then convert them to part-time student employees. In those cases, no changes are made to the student account when converting to part-time employee unless specifically requested.
