How to Map and Remove Network Drive

Note: If you are attempting to map a drive, you must connect to the CWI VPN first. In order to map a network drive, you must know the network path. Some common examples of CWI paths are:

H: = \\gold\users$\yourusername (ex. \\gold\users$\johnsmith)

I: = \\gold\common$

Note: If using a personal computer, you must be aware of where you are saving your data. It is easy to access a file on your mapped network drives and then save to another drive/folder, like your local hard drive.

Note: If using a personal computer, you must be sure that your computer has a good, functioning and up-to-date antivirus program installed and to make sure your computer does not currently have any malware or viruses installed. 

Steps-to-Take:

Step 1:  Open File Explorer by pressing the Windows key and the ‘E’ button at the same time. (The windows key looks like

Step 2:  Right click on 'This PC' or 'THis Computer' and select 'Map network drive...'

Step 3.  First select the drive letter you’d like to use. Then enter the network path in the ‘Folder’ text box (ex. \\gold\users$\johnsmith), then click ‘Finish’.

Step 4. Your network drive will now appear in File Explorer.

 

Step 5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for any additional network drives

 

Step 6. If you need to remove a network drive, right click on the drive you would like to remove, and select 'Disconnect'
